Scanning the stickleback genome for signatures of selection associated with acidic versus basic habitats

My PhD project focuses on stickleback populations that have recently adapted to multiple acidic and basic lakes on the Island of North Uist, Outer Hebrides, Scotland. I aim to identify genes involved in the adaptive evolution driven by different water chemistry in sticklebacks, based on genome-wide marker data of ten populations (5 basic and 5 acidic). Then, for a subset of those genes, I will attempt to look at the level of causative mutation by targeted sequencing.
